ODB reader for Smart #1 (SoC -> ABRP) ?

Does anyone recommend a secured ODB reader for the Smart #1?
Any experiences with that.

I don't want to tamper with the car set-up but simply merely read the battery level in real-time to feed into ABRP (A Better Route Planner) so that the route planning is accurate according to my SoC and I can record my charge, mileage, Kwh etc automatically?
Has anyone tried that and would recommend a secured ODB reader for that purpose?
