Manual key retrieval

Has anyone had success with accessing the manual car key from the key fob by rotating the key fob?

Yes but wasn't obvious..

I rotated the back as per the manual then tapped the fob in my cupped hand and it basically opened.

After rotating I guess you could also pry the 2 parts apart.
